We installed an HP RDX USB 3.0 removable disk to use together with Windows 2016 Backup. Which was a challenge as well to get that installed ?
So getting this simple USB 3.0 device installed was driving us crazy as well ! Using USB Devices should be plug and play not?
Once we plugged in the USB removable disk it was recognized and could be used. But Windows 2016 Backup did not see this device as an external USB Disk ?
After a long time search and trial and error, we found what was wrong.
SOLUTION :
– First we upgrade the device Firmware, but that did not help.
– Next we went to the HP Support Site and found a utillity called RDX Util
Once downloaded you can do a Selftest, Firmware upgrade, etc
But more important is that you can change the Device Mode for Removable Disk to Fixed Disk.
The disk Type changed from Removable to Basic
Once this was done and re-format the disk., Windows Backup was able recognize the device.
And everything ran stable
Enjoy !
Thanks for this. It works great on my Server 2019 system.
