Windows 7 – High CPU & Memory Usage : svchost & wuauserv

At some point in time you might get to the point where you notice that you PC is getting warm and the ventilator is running continuously ?

image

If you start to investigate it using the Task Manager, you will see that the CPU runs high on the svchost.exe  process?

But what does it mean ?

image

If you right click the svchost.exe you can select Go to Services …

image

It jumps to the services Tab. And highlights all related services linked to this process …

image

Once of them will be the wuauserv Service which is running.

Stop the Service and you will see the CPU drops immediately.
